G'Day All ,

I am an expat Pom who emigrated with my family in 1968 as an 8 year old . As I was only allowed to bring an extremely limited number of things and small light ones at that two of them were my treasured BRM and Porsche from my Scalextric set my father bought me in 1966 and am proud to say I still have them today . I am a confirmed slot car tragic and still race to this day at my local track . I have run te whole gamut of slofrom Opens , Group 27's , group 7's , group 20's , group 15's and group 12's when back in the 70's and 80's that was all that was raced in Australia . Sadly due to costs and younger peoples insatiable desire for instant gratification with absolutely no hard work or even modest effort that style of racing is now dead in Australia . If you want to race slot cars in Australia now it is 1/32nd or nothing basically . I am also an avid collector with over 900 cars in my collection of shelf dollies . Looking to connect with fellow slot car tragics from all over the world but especially the old dart.

Cheers ( from downunder ) Kenny

Hi Kenny, woah you did well to find our little forum.

we run 1/32 scale cars at our club and I'm too young to know about those other scales you mention (honest)

would like to see some of your collection, any chance you can post some pics?. My collection is about a 3rd of yours but I've cut back this year.

Graham (from cold up North)

Hi Kenny,

Welcome to our little slot car club forum.

I was born in 1968 and did not receive my first Scalextric set until I was in mid 20's, thanks to my wife,

I got back into Scalextric a few years back and my collection is nearing 200 cars now. I prefer to collect Scalextric cars, the older the better.
I think the quality of the 1960's Scalextric cars is awesome and I love to restore the cars to their former glory and take great delight in seeing them hurtle around a track.
I do have an ever growing collection of early F1 cars (Scalextric newest Ltd edition range). I've also took to building 1:32 slot cars.
I'm also quite partial to the new Italian performance slot cars we race at our club. Racer, NSR & Slot.it.

You will find I have topics under Members Cars, Members Track and Scratch Build Cars, if you're interested?

You have a huge collection! I too would like to see you post some pics, please?

I'm away with work at the moment but when I return I will be posting latest new editions and builds.

All the best Kenny.
Brian
